For weeks a bird has been singing in the tree tops around my house. It sounded like a blackbird but it wasn't. It was loud, it was joyful and despite this I could not find it with my binoculars. I then discovered it was the song of a Song Thrush. It had been so long since I had heard one I hadn't recognised this bird's call.
Finally, at the weekend I managed to it track down! This little chap sits and sings his song about ten times a day. The song is very distinctive, much louder than a blackbird and made up of phrases which are repeated around three times each. It's a joy to hear such a cheery chap each day.
