Hi all, it's a new week and I thought I'd start sharing with you some of the ways I find fairytales. I always say stories are everywhere. You'll find Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel in your vegetable patch, The Three Billy Goats Gruff in a nearby field and The Bremen Town Musicians, well as a statue in Bremen, Germany actually. Once you start looking you won't be able to stop seeing them but first you've got to know what you're looking for.
There are many ways you can start building your knowledge of fairytales, as well as listening to storytellers, books, podcasts, online resources, and the first one I want to share with you is actually the mailing list of a small independent publisher called Pook Press.
A mailing list? Yes a mailing list. Pook Press is not spammy and in fact send you a free, that's right, free fairytale once a fortnight. This week it's 'The Buried Moon,' an English fairytale. There's plenty of other free reads on their website too so hop on over and take a look. Here's the link:
It's a great way to get to know both the very famous fairytales and some of the more obscure ones and I guarantee this is one mailing list that you will not get tired of.
